Robin Roberts has a serious side hustle and she’s bringing her talents to Lifetime.
The beloved Good Morning America host has teamed up with the network and made plans to produce several projects under the Robin Roberts Presents banner.
According to reports, Roberts will produce films and documentaries for the network that is committed to developing more original content and there are already a few films in the works.
One of the flicks will focus on gospel singer and civil rights activist, Mahalia Jackson while another will highlight the kidnapping of Alexis Manigo. Aside from scripted films on these two subjects Robin Roberts Presents will deliver documentaries on both women.
Lifetime also has plans to release an anthology series, Seven Deadly Sins, from Bishop T.D. Jakes and is working on a five new films from V.C. Andrews‘ series, Casteel.
Roberts is known for speaking her truth and we’re guessing the projects she develops will help others tell theirs. When she came out as a lesbian in 2014, she stood up to haters who didn’t agree with her lifestyle.
“News flash: Some people like their anonymity. This is what’s right for me,” Roberts told the Good Housekeeping.
“Love is love, and I’m grateful to have that. Sometimes there’s a stigma attached to how people view you if you’re living a certain way. But I don’t care — you gotta live your life. You gotta find what happiness is and what it means for you, and you can’t get caught up in what someone is saying about you on Twitter. You don’t go through a year like I did to not be happy and not make your own choices.”
