UPDATE 12:02PM ET:
Florida resident Caesar Sayoc Jr. has been named as the person who has been taken into custody in connection with the suspicious packages mailed to several public figures who have been critical of President Trump.
DNA evidence apparently played a role in his arrest. He is said to have ties to the New York area and has been arrested before.
More to come…
The Justice Department has just tweeted out news that a man in Florida has been taken into custody Friday and will be charged in connection with the 12 (and counting) package bombs sent to Democrats, several of whom are high-profile Black critics of Donald Trump’s rhetoric and policies.
The person’s name was not immediately released although we have learned that he is in his 50s, in custody, and was picked up in Florida.
We can confirm one person is in custody. We will hold a press conference at the Department of Justice at 2:30pm ET.

Packages have been sent to the offices, residence or businesses of actor Robert De Niro, former Attorney General Eric Holder, former CIA Director John Brennan, former President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and two each were sent to former Vice President Joe Biden and Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California.
Just this morning, packages containing pipe bombs were found addressed to Sen. Cory Booker, of New Jersey and former national intelligence director James Clapper at CNN’s Time Warner address in New York City. Both were found at United States Postal Service facilities.
